Beyond Survival: Tactile Technologies and Tentacular Thinking in A Thriving Digital
September 26 @ 13:00 - 14:00
An increasingly alienating 21st century has been exacerbating the fragmentation of values, with cultural capitalism eroding the critical power of art. To disrupt this vicious economy of credit (cf. institutional accreditation), debt (cf. psychosomatic indebtedness), and equity (cf. moral validation), let’s make time to consider what can be shared, shouldered, and sustained in common. This panel discussion offers a collective opportunity for propositional making and prepositional thinking by troubling three entrenched combinatorial binaries —the traditional vs. the contemporary, the tangible vs. the digital, the technological vs. the contemplative—and experimenting with reconfigurations of zeros and ones that can free our pedagogical attention from nostalgic regard and future-proofing to being in and with time together.
