Fred Deakin is UAL Chair of Interactive Digital Art and founder and director of the collaborative organisation Fred & Company which specialises in interactive art projects.

Fred is half of the band Lemon Jelly with Nick Franglen who have been nominated for Mercury and Brit awards, sold over half a million albums and headlined stages at almost every major UK music festival (Glastonbury, Bestival, Big Chill, Reading, Leeds, T in the Park)

Previously, Fred was Founder and Director of ground-breaking London design agency Airside 1998-2012 with Nat Hunter and Alex McLean which won and was nominated for two BAFTAs, nine D&ADs, four Design Week Awards including Best In Show, and a Webby. The Gestalten book “Airside By Airside” (2010) tells Airside’s story.

Fred has given talks at the Design Museum, the Barbican, RCA, LCC, Design Indaba and Pictoplasma and has performed at TED, run animation workshops in the V&A, judged the British Animation Awards and delivered a lecture tour to professionals and school children around Indonesia with the British Council. He also played a role in the working group for the Gowers Review white paper on the UK’s creative economy which was presented to the DCMS in 2006.
